Decriminalising Marijuana... Now, that is not the same as making Marijuana legal, its just makes it so its not illegal. Now before I go any further, now let me just say, I have never done Marijuana or any other drugs and I never plan on doing Marijuana or any other drugs. Despite that, I think that the Marijuana legalisation is an excellent topic to blog and I support legalising it.
This has nothing to do for me wanting easy excess to drugs or me getting super high, it just makes sense to legalise Marijuana.
POINT NUMBER 1 : Marijuana is not really that bad for you. Many studies have been done by both the government and private institutions and what they have consistently shown is there is no significant differences in long term health between Marijuana users and non-Marijuana users. Now I m not saying that Marijuana can’t be bad to you but I don’t think it would be a very good idea to drive after smoking Marijuana and of course it could be bad in excess but then again also for things like fried chicken or chocolate...
POINT NUMBER 2 : Enforcing Marijuana laws is a huge waste in resources. Prisons around the world are more full then it have ever been and this is in large part because of increasing arrest rates of non-violent drug offenders. It costs over RM50, 000 in average to keep one Marijuana user in jail for one year, multiply that by all the Marijuana users in jails around the world right now and you have a country that is wasting billions. Now, that is not even counting all the money that we spend paying police officers for cracking down their time for Marijuana offenders and they could be doing something far more useful. Besides, Marijuana is so easy to get hold anyways that any attempt by law enforcement to eliminate its use is preety feudal.
POINT NUMBER 3 : If Marijuana is legal, it can be made by major companies for two main reasons. Production can be regulated and as a result, the product will probably be cleaner and safer and we could tax it just like we tax cigarettes and alcohol. If were to combine all the money for not having to enforce Marijuana laws and all the money gained from taxing all the Marijuana sales, we would have a freaking ton of ca$h. That money could be spent building road, schools, hospitals, funding drug prevention programmes, it just makes sense...
POINT NUMBER 4 : What responsible adults do in the privacy in their own homes as long as it does not endanger themselves or others is really not the government’s business. Malaysia was founded with the idea of that would be limited government interracial and people would people would preety much be able to do what they want. If someone would want to have a glass of wine or smoke a cigarette, is that something that we need to be worried about? I mean, is that something that the government should be worried about? Now, please don’t get me wrong here, I do not smoke and I would never smoke regardless of illegality but that is my choice and I belive that others should have the right to choose like they wish as well.
Smoking and doing Marijuana is bad and I advice everyone not to smoke or do drugs regardless of what my thoughts above. Never smoke or do drugs, but consuming alcohol is not that bad compared to it, for example drinking a glass of wine can increase one’s life span and strengthening their heart but then again not in excess. So those are my thoughts on Marijuana and other stuff and now I want to know yours. Post a comment below on your thoughts on legalising Marijuana.
